Can you believe it? I can’t! We were so excited to see that + sign on the stick and now we are OVER THE MOON to know that it’s a boy! And I’ve got to be honest, this has been a hard secret to keep over the past couple of months … Keep reading and I’ll fill you in on how we found out!

how we found out.

When we were pregnant with Adelaide, we opted out of all genetic testing. We spent a long time talking about it and thinking about it, and after having a very honest conversation with our doctor we decided that since Adelaide was our first we would just figure it out as we went if there were any genetic abnormalities at birth. Now that we have a toddler at home, our choices this pregnancy were very different — in fact, they were the exact opposite. We decided to have the gamete of testing done so that we could be as informed as possible when this baby was born. Not only can they tell you with accuracy if your baby has genetic abnormalities, but they can also tell you the sex earlier than your anatomy scan.

I, of course, jumped on the opportunity to find out the sex of the baby early. So we found out on February 2 that we were having a boy! Can you believe I’ve kept the secret for that long?! There’s a reason I did — I honestly needed to see the ultrasound for confirmation! Even though my doctors told me there is no physical reason or explanation for a Y chromosome floating around my body other than I’m having a boy!

Yesterday was our official ultrasound day, and it’s confirmed … BABY BOY!

what having a boy means for us.

In a word, nothing. Now hear me out … We would have been equally as happy with a boy or a girl as long as both baby {and mama} survived the pregnancy. We plan to raise our kids the same. Whether they are male or female, they will be raised to be kind-hearted, God-loving, productive members of our society.

Now that’s not to say that I’m not excited to be buying cute “little dude” clothes or nervous about the use of peepee teepees! It also likely means this will be our last child — now that we will have “one of each” in some ways, for us, it feels like our family is complete. Don’t hold us to this, we know that God has a plan for our lives and two children may not be it! So we’ll just have to wait and see.

shopping for baby boy.

I wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t already shopping for Baby Boy — who does not yet have a name! And of course am always sharing my favorite finds.

Even though we’ve known for quite some time {almost two months!} that this sweet babe growing inside of me was a boy, we were still almost shocked yesterday in the ultrasound! We are excited beyond words and cannot wait to meet him in August!
